Cynthia Coates is the founder and president of ChildrenAndTrauma.com, the premier new portal where parents and others can find helpful and inspiring advice and help for protecting children from trauma in the future, and helping them heal when trauma is unavoidable.
She's also an inspiring landscape and portrait photographer, entrepreneur, and more recently, author -- the last is returning to her early roots in journalism and communications.
Cynthia served with distinction in the US Army for 30 years rising to the rank of Colonel. After retiring in 2010, she transitioned to the civilian sector and now serves as a Senior Defense Analyst with Booz Allen Hamilton, a top Defense contractor firm with worldwide operations. Currently, she is providing consultative services supporting the Joint Staff Director of Global Operations in the area of Information Operations, training and education, and policy development.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she now lives in Frederick, Maryland, and works in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Point Park College with a major in communications and journalism and also completed a US Army War College Advanced Institute of Technology Fellowship through the University of Texas. She has also attended American Military University where she studied Homeland Security.
This book represents her true passion, which is bringing value to others through her creative photographic endeavors and sharing insights through her writing.
